Job summary

Zurich is seeking a Financial Lines Underwriting Manager for Vic/Tas to lead the state underwriting team and shape portfolio performance. You’ll work across underwriting, sales, claims, risk engineering and distribution to deliver quality growth for Financial Lines in Victoria and Tasmania.

You will bring substantial Financial Lines experience, proven leadership, and deep market knowledge in the Australian General Insurance landscape, collaborating with brokers, customers and internal partners

Qualifications

• Significant experience in Financial Lines underwriting, broking or a related technical insurance discipline.
• Proven people leadership experience, including coaching, mentoring and developing underwriting talent.
• Strong technical capability across Commercial Financial Lines Insurance and the Australian General Insurance market.
• Track record of growing profitable portfolios and delivering change in a complex insurance environment.
• Strong market presence and the ability to build trusted relationships with brokers, customers and internal stakeholders.
• Sound commercial judgement, financial acumen and understanding of underwriting governance, risk and compliance.

Responsibilities

• Growing the Vic/Tas Financial Lines portfolio in line with Zurich’s plan, strategy and risk appetite
• Leading and coaching a high performing underwriting team, creating a strong rhythm for market engagement and delivery
• Build a sustainable pipeline of new business and renewal opportunities with brokers, customers and internal partners
• Underwrite and support complex new and renewal business within delegated authority levels
• Monitor portfolio performance and report on key Financial Lines metrics, including growth, profitability and retention
• Strengthen Zurich’s market profile through strong relationships with brokers, customers and key stakeholders.
