Job summary

Sonova in Australia is seeking a Senior Financial Accountant to lead financial reporting, compliance, and process improvement initiatives. The role ensures adherence to IFRS and Australian accounting standards while delivering insights for decision-making.

You will drive month-end close, audits, and cash flow management, mentoring junior staff to build a high-performing finance team, and supporting continuous SOP improvements.

Qualifications

• Qualification in accounting or finance or commerce; CA/CPA qualified.
• At least 4-6 years of practical accounting experience.
• Comprehensive knowledge of IFRS and Australian Accounting Standards.
• Solid experience with Australian tax compliance (BAS, FBT, income tax returns).
• Strong working knowledge of ERP (SAP or Sage or MYOB) and Advanced Excel.

Responsibilities

• Oversee month-end close and financial reporting.
• Manage intercompany invoicing and reconciliations.
• Ensure compliance with IFRS and local Australian standards.
• Support audits and internal control improvements.

Senior Financial Accountant

We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Senior Accountant to manage financial reporting, compliance, and process improvement initiatives. This role ensures adherence to IFRS and local accounting standards while providing critical financial insights to support decision-making. The Senior Accountant will play a key role in month-end close, audits, and cash flow management, and will also mentor junior team members to build a high-performing finance team.

More about the role:

Financial Reporting & Compliance:

• Timely and accurately complete month end and year end closing, including overseeing the daily accounting operations, provision & accrual journal posting, standard journals reviews, IC reconciliation, account reconciliations and etc
• Responsible for monthly expense claim reviews (Manual/Concur)
• Ensure monthly accurate financial reporting in local ERP (MYOB/Sage/SAP) and Cognos
• Responsible for accurate intercompany invoice processing
• Perform monthly BS reconciliation review and identify the actions required
• Timely complete the monthly ICs controls
• ANZ WHS Fixed Assets management to ensure strong control on assets
• Maintain strong internal controls and compliance with corporate governance frameworks.
• Continuous improvement of SOPs.
• Successfully identify business risk and implement effectively mitigation strategies.

Tax & Treasury:

• Timely and accurately complete the lodgement of monthly BAS/Inland Revenue
• Responsible for FBT return
• Support on deferred tax calculation in Half year and Year end reporting
• Coordinate annual income tax return with external tax consultant
• Responsible for annual transfer pricing package
• Responsible for the monthly cash flow forecasting process and analyzing collection performance through weekly ageing reports and cash collection reports.

Working Capital Management:

• Collaborate with Operation team to strengthen inventory controls
• Contribute to the process improvement initiatives for working capital efficiency.
• Inventory slow moving analysis to highlight the inefficiencies and market strategies to increase consumption of slow-moving items.
• Responsible for key working capital KPI measurement including DSO and DIO

Budgeting

• Assist with annual budget preparation and submission

Statutory Audit & Internal Audit:

• Primary responsible for annual statutory accounts auditing
• Responsible for internal audit and timely completion of internal audit actions.

Team management & development:

• Foster a collaborative and growth-oriented team culture.

Others:

• Manage annual insurance policies renewal
• Other adhoc tasks as required

More about you:

• Qualification in accounting or finance or commerce; CA/CPA qualified
• At least 4-6 years of practical accounting experience
• Comprehensive knowledge of IFRS and practical application of Australian Accounting Standards, with a strong ability to interpret and implement complex accounting requirements.
• Solid practical experience with Australian tax compliance, including BAS, FBT, and income tax returns.
• Strong working knowledge of ERP (SAP or Sage or MYOB) and Advanced Excel Skills.

• Demonstrated initiative and continuous improvement mindset, driving process efficiencies and strengthening internal controls.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills and the ability to interact at a Senior Management level.
• Strong problem-solving skills.
• Sharp analytical mind to synthesize data, interpret and articulate findings to both technical and non-technical stakeholders
• Strong organizational and time management skills, with the ability to manage competing priorities and meet tight deadlines.
• Sound commercial acumen and ability to balance technical accounting requirements with business objectives.
• Ability to work independently while maintaining a high standard of accuracy, accountability, and professionalism
