In this full-time role based at AFL House in Melbourne, you’ll manage, optimise and evolve the AFL’s finance systems, combining operational support with project delivery, stakeholder engagement and continuous improvement. You’ll own the finance systems roadmap, lead one direct report and work closely with Finance, Technology, Data & Analytics, club stakeholders and external partners to deliver secure, scalable and practical solutions.

You’ll lead the performance and ongoing evolution of the AFL’s finance technology ecosystem, ensuring systems remain reliable, well controlled and aligned with organisational and industry needs.

You’ll add value through:

  • Owning and supporting core finance platforms, including Microsoft Dynamics 365 Finance & Operations, Workday Adaptive Planning and Zeno
  • Developing and delivering the finance systems roadmap, covering enhancements, upgrades, implementations, integrations and new capabilities
  • Maintaining and optimising finance applications, workflows and integrations to support reliable and efficient financial operations
  • Leading finance systems projects and change initiatives from requirements and solution design through to testing, implementation, documentation and adoption
  • Managing the finance systems enhancement backlog and balancing operational priorities, strategic initiatives and stakeholder requirements
  • Improving finance processes through Power Platform, workflow automation, Microsoft Copilot, Copilot Studio and other appropriate AI capabilities
  • Supporting planning, budgeting, rolling forecasting, management reporting and analysis across the finance technology ecosystem
  • Partnering with AFL and club Finance and Technology teams, Data & Analytics and other stakeholders to deliver consistent, practical improvements
  • Managing vendors, implementation partners and support providers, with clear priorities, accountabilities and delivery expectations
  • Overseeing data flows, integrations, reporting requirements, system controls and user acceptance and integration testing
  • Leading and developing one direct report while providing functional leadership and advanced support across finance applications
  • Ensuring finance systems remain secure, scalable and aligned with changing organisational needs
What you’ll bring
  • At least five years' experience in a similar finance systems, ERP or enterprise applications role
  • Demonstrated experience with Microsoft Dynamics 365 Finance & Operations
  • Experience contributing to an accounting system change or implementation
  • Strong knowledge of finance processes, controls and operations within a complex financial environment
  • Experience translating business requirements into practical system and process solutions in partnership with Finance and Technology teams
  • Proven capability delivering finance systems projects, supporting organisational change and working with third-party vendors or implementation partners
  • Experience with financial planning, budgeting, forecasting, reporting and data integrations
  • Experience with Workday Adaptive Planning or a comparable planning platform would be valuable
  • Strong stakeholder engagement, communication, problem-solving and prioritisation capability
  • Experience leading and developing others, supported by sound judgement, clear accountability and a collaborative approach
  • Experience with Power Platform, automation, AI-enabled solutions or modern data technologies would be advantageous
  • A commitment to delivering secure, reliable and fit-for-purpose solutions with integrity, care and attention to quality
