Q-CTRL in Sydney is seeking a Staff Experimental Scientist to drive experimental hardware development for atom-interferometry-based quantum gravimeters. You will design, assemble, test, and ruggedise complex optical, mechanical and electronic systems for field deployment, balancing performance with reliability.

Qualifications

• PhD in Physics, Engineering or closely related discipline.
• Experience designing, operating and validating complex prototypes.
• Experience with lab-to-field hardware transitions.
• Ability to troubleshoot mechanical, optical and electrical systems both in lab and field.

Responsabilités

• Prepare prototypes for field trials: design, assemble, operate, test and ruggedise complex prototypes
• Conduct prototype deployments: travel and work from locations during field trials
• Diagnose and fix mechanical, optical and electronics hardware issues in lab and field
• Implement new sensing techniques and control schemes on fieldable prototypes
• Collaborate with quantum scientists, mechanical and electrical engineers to iteratively improve hardware concepts
• Note: support for ruggedisation and deployment across real-world platforms
