Job summary

Michael Page is assisting a leading Australian infrastructure contractor in WA to recruit a Senior Estimator for HV substations and utility projects. You will lead cost estimation, review drawings, manage supplier quotes, and drive value through commercial analysis.

The successful candidate will have strong substations experience, robust analytical skills, and a track record of handling multiple tenders in a safety-focused environment.

Qualifications

• Experience as Senior/Lead Estimator or Estimating Manager.
• Strong background in substations, transmission, utilities or major infrastructure.
• Advanced commercial, analytical and problem-solving capability.
• Ability to interpret complex drawings and tender documentation.
• Experience with estimating software and MS Office.
• Ability to manage multiple tenders and deadlines.

Responsibilities

• Lead detailed cost estimates and tender submissions for HV substation and utility projects.
• Review drawings, specifications and tender documentation to develop pricing.
• Manage supplier and subcontractor engagement for quotations.
• Identify commercial risks, opportunities and value engineering.
• Maintain estimating databases, schedules of rates and benchmarking data.
• Prepare project schedules, pre-contract docs and cost reports.
• Participate in tender briefings, bid reviews and commercial negotiations.

The Successful Applicant

A successful 'Senior Estimator - Substations' should have:

• Strong background in substations, transmission, utilities or major infrastructure.
• Advanced commercial, analytical and problem-solving capability.
• Demonstrated ability to interpret complex drawings and tender documentation.
• Experience using estimating software and advanced Microsoft Office applications.
• Ability to manage multiple tenders and deadlines simultaneously.
• Construction Management, Engineering or Trade qualifications highly regarded.
