Job summary

Hire Express is seeking a Service Technician to service, maintain and repair a wide range of tools, machinery and plant across our workshop and customer sites.

You'll diagnose faults, perform servicing, and ensure every machine leaves as Hire Fit—safe, reliable and ready to work. A trade certificate in motor mechanics and a practical hands-on approach are essential, with a clean manual licence and a proactive mindset.

Qualifications

• Trade certificate in motor mechanics is required.
• Manual driver’s licence and clean driving record.
• Willingness to expand skills across equipment.
• Ability to work independently and meet deadlines.
• Good verbal and written communication skills.
• Able to juggle multiple jobs in a fast-paced environment.
• Physical fitness suitable for the role.

Responsibilities

• Servicing, maintaining and repairing a broad range of tools, machinery and plant.
• Diagnosing faults and implementing practical fixes.
• Completing pre-hire and post-hire checks so every machine goes out Hire Fit.
• Carrying out scheduled servicing to keep the fleet reliable and dependable.
• Attending breakdowns and on-site repairs when customers need us.
• Working with the hire team to prioritise jobs and keep equipment available.
• Keeping accurate service records and job paperwork.
• Maintaining a safe, clean and well organised workshop.
• Spotting recurring issues and suggesting better ways to do things.
