Job summary

The Department of Climate Change, Energy, the Environment and Water (DCCEEW) invites applications for a Senior Legal Officer to join the Environment and Strategic Advice legal team. This temporary full-time role (35 hours per week) is based in Parramatta with flexible working arrangements.

You will prepare legal advice, contribute to legislative reform and work across NSW to protect the environment and heritage.

Qualifications

• Admitted as an Australian Legal Practitioner in NSW or another eligible jurisdiction.
• Hold, or be eligible to hold, an NSW Practising Certificate.
• Experience in planning, environmental, heritage or natural resource management law; administrative law; statutory interpretation; legislative reform and policy development.

Responsibilities

• Prepare legal advice and provide high-quality legal services across DCCEEW.
• Support legislative reform, including drafting Bills and regulations.
• Collaborate with teams to deliver long-term projects protecting NSW environment and heritage.
