Senior Advisor - Compliance, Reporting & Assurance


Glencore’s McArthur River Mine (MRM) is a world-class zinc-lead mine with a long future. Located in the Gulf of Carpentaria, 900 km southeast of Darwin and 64 km from Borroloola, MRM produces and processes zinc, lead, and silver from our open-cut mine. About The Role

Leading the Compliance, Reporting and Assurance team under the guidance of the Superintendent - Environment you will manage the regulatory compliance and assurance framework, ensuring alignment with the mine’s key environmental approvals, and produce accurate, timely reports for both government and corporate stakeholders.


The successful applicant with have a safety-first attitude, leading by example for a team of 2-3 personnel developing and honing their skills and profession.



Key Responsibilities


  • Promote Glencore SafeWork protocols and processes to ensure a safe work environment.

  • Manage and develop a team of professionals, allocating and monitoring workload whilst ensuring a positive, collaborative team culture.

  • Provide accurate and consistent advice on environmental queries.

  • Execute projects and tasks based on the company vision.

  • Lead and contribute to the regulatory compliance and assurance framework, ensuring it aligns with company and statutory guidelines.

  • Produce and review reports based on internal and external requirements, including for government bodies.

  • Lead and manage internal and external audits against relevant compliance requirements.

  • Complete environmental inspections, hazard inspections in line with company guidelines, actioning improvement opportunities where appropriate.



Key Requirements


  • Tertiary qualifications in Environmental Science or a related field

  • Proven leadership and management experience, with the ability to drive team performance and development.

  • Extensive experience in regulatory compliance and assurance.

  • Proven ability to write, review, and deliver environmental reports.

  • Strong knowledge of mining operations and processes.

  • Strong communication skills with the ability to liaise with both internal and external stakeholders.

  • A strong commitment to safety, quality, and continuous improvement.
