Job summary

Macquarie Group is seeking a Senior Engineer (Entra ID SME) to lead the authentication platforms with a focus on Entra ID, hybrid identity, and secure application authentication.

You will work hands-on with application teams, security, and platform partners to design, implement, and operate enterprise-grade identity solutions. This role requires deep technical depth and strong operational judgement.

Qualifications

• Extensive, hands-on Entra ID (Azure AD) experience in enterprise environments.
• Strong design & troubleshooting skills for Conditional Access.
• Deep knowledge of SSO and modern auth protocols (SAML 2.0, OAuth 2.0, OIDC).
• Experience implementing MFA at scale.
• Knowledge of Active Directory and hybrid identity scenarios.
• PowerShell scripting and identity automation experience.
• Experience with Microsoft Graph / Entra APIs for automation.
• Experience with identity monitoring via Azure Monitor, Log Analytics, Sentinel, or Splunk.
• Ability to analyze authentication logs, tokens and sign-in telemetry to diagnose issues.
• Proven ability to own critical authentication services in production environments.

Join our Authentication Services team within Global Technology Services as a Senior Engineer (Entra ID Subject Matter Expert). If you are a highly experienced identity professional with deep expertise in Microsoft Entra ID, Conditional Access, modern authentication protocols, and enterprise-scale identity operations, this is the role for you.

What role will you play?

You will play a critical role in the operational ownership, enhancement, and continuous improvement of Macquarie’s authentication platforms, with a strong focus on Entra ID, hybrid identity, and secure application authentication. You will be hands‑on and have strong technical depth, sound operational judgement, and the ability to work closely with application teams, security, and platform partners.

What You Offer

• Extensive, hands‑on experience with Microsoft Entra ID (Azure AD) in enterprise environments.
• Strong expertise in Conditional Access design and troubleshooting.
• Deep understanding of SSO and modern authentication protocols: SAML 2.0, OAuth 2.0, OpenID Connect (OIDC)
• Strong experience with Multi‑Factor Authentication implementations.
• Solid working knowledge of Active Directory, including hybrid identity scenarios.
• Strong PowerShell scripting skills and experience with identity automation.
• Experience using Microsoft Graph / Entra APIs for operational and automation purposes.
• Experience with identity monitoring and logging using tools such as Azure Monitor, Log Analytics, Sentinel, or Splunk.
• Ability to analyse authentication logs, tokens, and sign‑in telemetry to diagnose issues and assess risk.
• Proven ability to work independently and take ownership of critical authentication services in production environments.
