Job summary

Westpac Group's Model Risk team seeks a senior professional to lead independent validations across enterprise models including capital, funding and liquidity, and risk areas in Sydney. The role is permanent and full-time, based in Sydney/Warrane, Gadigal Country.

You will guide junior team members, strengthen model risk practices, and contribute to governance around emerging AI applications in enterprise models while collaborating with business and risk stakeholders.

Qualifications

• Experience working in model validation or model development
• Strong programming skills: SAS, SQL, R or Python
• Ability to understand and interpret regulatory standards, financial statements and Pillar III reports
• Clear communication and stakeholder management skills, including the ability to explain technical matters and challenge constructively
• Leadership or coaching experience, with the ability to support and guide junior team members

Responsibilities

• Lead and complete independent validations across enterprise models (capital, financial crime, funding and liquidity, operational risk, conduct and compliance)
• Assess methodologies, implementation, data and documentation of models
• Build trusted relationships with business and risk stakeholders
• Guide junior team members and contribute to oversight of AI in enterprise models
