Job summary

Sedgman Pty Limited, a CIMIC Group company, is seeking a Senior Engineering/Design Manager to lead the design function for minerals processing and site infrastructure projects in Australia and globally. Based in Brisbane, you’ll coordinate design across studies, design, and project delivery roles, ensuring technical excellence and timely execution.

The role requires more than 10 years in engineering/design management within minerals processing, strong leadership, and a Bachelor of Engineering.

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Engineering.
• 10+ years’ experience in engineering/design management with minerals processing background.
• Experience in leading and managing technical/project teams.

Responsibilities

• Monitor and evaluate the work of engineers and drafting staff to ensure technical competence and performance.
• Report writing, managing engineering budgets and schedules.
• Programme workloads and provide technical/administrative guidance to the design staff.
• Coordinate resource planning to meet project design requirements.
• Administer technical briefs for sub-consultant engagement.
• Prepare and control issue of the Project Design Management Plan.
• Coordinate design interfaces with client’s other designers.

Sedgman is proud to offer the position of Senior Engineering/Design Manager to join our team in Brisbane. In this role you will coordinate and direct the design function across our minerals processing and supporting site infrastructure projects in studies, design, and supporting the delivery of projects both in Australia and across the globe.

Key Responsibilities:

• Monitor and evaluate the work of engineers and drafting staff allocated to the project to ensure that their technical competence and performance meet requirements.
• Report writing, managing Engineering budgets and schedules.
• Programme workloads and provide technical and administrative guidance to the Design Engineering staff.
• Work in conjunction with Management around resource planning processes to ensure resource requirement for the project’s design are met.
• Administer technical briefs for sub-consultant engagement.
• Prepare and control issue of the Project Design Management Plan.
• Coordinate design interfaces with the Client’s other designers as required.
• Manage Engineers/ Designers to ensure authorisation and issue of documents and drawings to the project team, vendors, sub-consultants, statutory authorities and other as necessary.
• Coordinate responses to technical queries from contractors and other project staff in a timely manner.
• Identify, investigate, record, monitor and report on actions, resolution and costs of identified design non-conformances.
• Understand Sedgman standard specifications, typical/standard drawings, and calculations/simulations to reflect current industry standards.
• Ensure compliance of project design team with the Sedgman’s ‘Design Management Systems’, including NCR’s.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor of Engineering.

Essential skills, knowledge and experience:

• Minimum 10+ years’ experience industry experience
• Minimum 10 + years’ experience engineering/design management with a Minerals Processing background
• Extensive knowledge on organisation projects and practices.
• Experience in leading and managing technical/project teams.

Desired skills, knowledge and experience:

• Minerals Processing, base metals industry experience.
• Experience in heavy industry environment.
