Job summary

BHP Group in Newman, WA is seeking a Senior Electrical Reliability Engineer to join the Fixed Plant team. You will provide reliability engineering expertise across electrical assets, drive improvements, and partner with Operations, Maintenance and Planning to maximise equipment effectiveness.

The role requires strong analytical skills, stakeholder influence, and a disciplined approach to maintenance strategy, asset health and lifecycle cost, with a FIFO 5:2 roster from Perth or a Newman

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering.
• Proven reliability engineering experience in heavy industry.
• Knowledge of HV/LV power systems and fixed plant infrastructure.
• Experience with RCA, FMEA and reliability assessments.
• Maintenance strategy development and optimisation.
• Experience using SAP or APM.
• Strong problem-solving and stakeholder management skills.
• Exposure to functional safety and industrial automation.

Responsibilities

• Provide technical guidance for electrical reliability and asset health management across fixed plant operations.
• Develop and execute reliability improvement strategies that deliver measurable improvements in safety, availability, maintainability and cost performance.
• Facilitate root cause analyses (RCA) and defect elimination initiatives to address recurring equipment failures and operational losses.
• Review and optimise preventive, predictive and condition-based maintenance strategies for critical electrical assets.
• Evaluate asset performance, failure trends and condition monitoring data to identify emerging risks and improvement opportunities.
• Conduct equipment criticality assessments and implement risk mitigation plans for high-consequence assets.
• Partner with Operations, Maintenance and Planning teams to improve asset performance and reliability outcomes.
• Contribute to capital projects, shutdown planning and major maintenance activities by providing reliability engineering input and asset expertise.
• Support compliance with statutory obligations, engineering standards and BHP technical requirements.
• Mentor engineers, specialists and frontline teams in reliability methodologies and best practices.
• Drive continuous improvement through the application of reliability engineering principles, data analytics and industry-leading asset management practices.
