Job summary

Newmont Australia’s Cadia Valley Operations near Orange, NSW, is seeking a Senior Electrical Engineer - Projects to lead underground electrical infrastructure initiatives from planning through handover. This on-site role offers a chance to shape critical mining infrastructure while working with multidisciplinary teams in a residential setting.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical and Electronic Engineering recognized by Engineers Australia.
• Extensive experience delivering electrical infrastructure projects in underground mining.
• Strong knowledge of HV/LV power systems, protection, PLCs, instrumentation, and control systems.
• Experience managing contractors, consultants, and vendors through the project lifecycle.

Responsibilities

Cadia is a major gold and copper mining operation in central New South Wales, about 25 kilometres from the city of Orange and 250 kilometres west of Sydney. Your Impact

As a Senior Electrical Engineer - Projects, you'll lead the safe and efficient delivery of underground electrical infrastructure projects that support Cadia Cave Mining Projects' operational objectives. You'll oversee projects from concept through handover, ensuring successful outcomes across safety, quality, schedule, and budget requirements

As Part Of Our Team, You Will

• Lead the end-to-end delivery of underground electrical infrastructure projects from planning and design through commissioning and operational handover.
• Develop project scopes, technical specifications, and design packages while supporting procurement and contractor engagement activities.
• Drive safe project execution through risk assessments, change management, field inspections, and the application of critical controls.
• Collaborate with operational stakeholders, project teams, contractors, and technical specialists to achieve successful project outcomes.
• Identify opportunities to improve engineering, project delivery, and operational processes across the business.

Prerequisites for Your Success in This Role

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical and Electronic Engineering recognized by Engineers Australia.
• Considerable experience delivering electrical infrastructure projects within underground mining environments.
• Strong knowledge of HV/LV power systems, protection systems, PLCs, instrumentation, and control systems.
• Experience managing contractors, consultants, and vendors throughout the project lifecycle.
• Proficiency with AutoCAD, ETAP, SAP, and MS Project, with strong stakeholder engagement skills.
