Job summary

Ampcontrol in Mackay is seeking a Senior Electrical Engineer to join our QLD Service team. You will deliver HV and LV electrical design, estimation and project delivery for mining, utilities and industrial clients across North Queensland, with a focus on power distribution and control systems for surface and underground operations.

This role combines hands-on engineering with customer engagement, project coordination and technical leadership, mentoring junior engineers and improving standards

Qualifications

• Degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent.
• Significant electrical design experience in mining, heavy industry or utilities.
• Strong knowledge of HV and LV systems, Australian Standards and mining regulations.
• Experience managing engineering projects from design through commissioning.
• Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.
• Demonstrated technical leadership and ability to mentor others.
• CPEng and RPEQ status, or working towards accreditation, is highly regarded.

Responsibilities

• Provide technical leadership across HV and LV electrical design and project delivery.
• Develop and review electrical designs, ensuring compliance with Australian Standards, mining regulations and Ampcontrol procedures.
• Complete engineering calculations, equipment specifications and technical documentation.
• Liaise with customers and project teams to deliver practical engineering solutions.
• Support estimation, tender preparation, design reviews and quality assurance.
• Provide technical support throughout installation, testing and commissioning.
• Mentor engineers and contribute to continuous improvement of engineering standards and processes.
