Job summary

Silentium Defence Pty is seeking a Senior Electrical and Electronic Engineer to lead complex electronic systems while remaining hands-on with design, development, integration, verification and troubleshooting. You will mentor other engineers and help shape the capabilities of the Hardware Team.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronic Engineering or a related discipline.
• 8+ years’ electrical/electronic engineering experience within product design and development.
• Strong analogue, digital and mixed-signal design experience.
• Experience with electronic subsystem integration, verification, validation and troubleshooting.
• Strong engineering judgement and structured problem-solving capability.
• Experience with engineering governance, requirements traceability and configuration management.
• Demonstrated technical leadership across multidisciplinary engineering environments.
• Experience mentoring, coaching and developing engineers.
• The ability to coordinate technical activities and manage competing priorities.
• Strong technical documentation and communication skills.
• A collaborative approach and willingness to share knowledge.
• Eligibility to obtain Australian Defence Security Clearance would be highly regarded.

Responsibilities

• Provide technical leadership across Electrical & Electronic Engineering activities.
• Lead complex electronic hardware and subsystem design and development.
• Mentor and coach junior and mid-level engineers.
• Support the Hardware Team Lead with technical priorities, workload coordination and task allocation.
• Review engineering outputs and provide constructive technical feedback.
• Guide engineering decisions through analysis, trade studies and risk assessment.
• Support requirements development, design, integration, verification and validation.
• Help resolve technical blockers and complex engineering problems.
• Improve engineering processes, tools, standards and ways of working.
• Support configuration management, design governance and requirements traceability.
• Work closely with Systems, Firmware, Software, Mechanical, Test, Production and Project teams.
• Support product development, production transition and design sustainment.
• Provide technical support during field trials, demonstrations and customer activities.
