Job summary

ERM International Group in Australia is seeking an Ecologist/Senior Ecologist to join our Newcastle or Sydney team. You will support biodiversity impact assessments, field surveys, and the preparation of management plans within NSW State and Commonwealth frameworks.

The role offers collaboration across ERM's global network, opportunities for career development, and travel for fieldwork. A degree in Ecology plus 1–5 years of consulting experience is expected, with GIS and flora identification

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Ecology or related field.
1–2 years (Ecologist) or 2–5 years (Senior Ecologist) environmental consulting experience.
Experience with NSW Biodiversity Conservation Act 2016 is highly regarded.
GIS experience and flora identification are advantageous.
Driver's license and willingness to travel for fieldwork.

Responsibilities

Supporting and delivering field surveys and desktop ecological assessments.
Assisting in the preparation of biodiversity assessments, offset strategies and management plans that meet federal and state requirements.
Supporting multiple projects, ensuring quality deliverables, and meeting deadlines.
Engaging with stakeholders, including subcontractors, regulatory agents, landowners, Indigenous communities, and clients.
Building strong collaborations across ERM's global network of sustainability experts.
