Job summary

Nature Positive Advisory (N+A) is seeking a senior ecologist with a passion for zoology and fauna surveys to join our NSW team. You will support our team to deliver robust biodiversity assessments for a range of projects, conducting field-based fauna surveys and contributing to high-quality reports.

You will lead projects across geographies, mentor junior staff, and ensure compliance with NSW and Commonwealth environmental legislation, with travel across NSW for field surveys.

Qualifications

• Tertiary qualifications in ecology, environmental science, biology, or related discipline.
• Minimum 5 years relevant experience.
• BAM accreditation, or desire to achieve accreditation, would be preferred.
• Expertise in a range of fauna survey techniques and identification, with experience in identification of threatened species.
• Working knowledge of NSW and Commonwealth environmental legislation.
• Project management experience.
• Experience planning, coordinating, and leading large-scale field surveys.
• Ability and motivation to travel throughout NSW and undertake field surveys.
• Positive energy and passion for your profession.
• The ability to make a positive contribution to team culture.

Responsibilities

• Undertake field-based fauna survey work, including fauna habitat assessment and targeted threatened species surveys in accordance with the Biodiversity Assessment Method (BAM).
• Assist with field-based flora survey work as required.
• Lead projects across a wide range of geographies and clients including management of technical and financial performance.
• Work positively, in a team-based environment, in the planning, delivery and management of ecology surveys, analysis and evaluation of results, impact assessments, and the design and implementation of successful mitigation strategies.
• Help shape and drive the positive team-based culture of our business and make Nature Positive Advisory a great place to work.
• Maintain a high level of knowledge of ecological practice.
• Offer guidance and mentorship to junior staff.
