Job summary

Monadelphous is seeking experienced Senior E&I Project Engineers to support the Brigalow Peaking Power Plant, a major Balance of Plant project featuring 12 aeroderivative GTG units and associated E&I infrastructure. You’ll begin in Brisbane supporting mobilisation, planning and procurement before moving to site construction near Chinchilla, Queensland.

Applicants should have a degree in Electrical, Instrumentation, Mechatronics or related engineering discipline and proven experience delivering

• Degree in Electrical, Instrumentation, Mechatronics or related engineering discipline.
• Proven project engineering experience delivering E&I scopes on power generation, energy, mining, oil & gas, or heavy industrial projects.
• Strong knowledge of HV/LV systems, switchgear, transformers, protection, control systems and instrumentation.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate E&I construction and commissioning activities to achieve project objectives on time and within budget.
• Manage delivery of electrical, instrumentation, communications and control system work scopes.
• Review engineering documentation, specifications and vendor deliverables.
• Coordinate interfaces between E&I, SMP, civil, commissioning and client teams.
• Develop and manage work packs, ITPs, test records, construction methodologies and commissioning documentation.
• Support procurement activities including technical evaluations, vendor engagement and FAT participation.

Job description

Monadelphous is seeking experienced Senior E&I Project Engineers to support the delivery of the Brigalow Peaking Power Plant, a major Balance of Plant (BOP) construction project incorporating 12 aeroderivative Gas Turbine Generator (GTG) units and associated electrical, instrumentation and control infrastructure.

You’ll initially be based in our Brisbane office supporting project mobilisation, detailed planning and procurement activities before transitioning to site construction near Chinchilla, Queensland.

Key Responsibilities will include:

• Reporting to the Project Manager and Construction Manager, you will:
• Coordinate E&I construction and commissioning activities to achieve project objectives safely, on time and within budget.
• Manage delivery of electrical, instrumentation, communications and control system work scopes.
• Review engineering documentation, specifications and vendor deliverables.
• Coordinate interfaces between E&I, SMP, civil, commissioning and client teams.
• Develop and manage work packs, ITPs, test records, construction methodologies and commissioning documentation.
• Manage RFIs, technical queries, NCRs and design clarifications through to close out.
• Support procurement activities including technical evaluations, vendor engagement and FAT participation.
• Monitor project schedule, productivity, cost performance and forecasting.
• Ensure compliance with project specifications, QA requirements and Australian Standards.
• Support testing, commissioning, energisation and handover activities.
• Mentor and provide technical guidance to Graduate and Project Engineers.

What you will bring:

• Proven Project Engineer experience delivering E&I scopes across power generation, energy, mining, oil & gas, resources or heavy industrial projects.
• Degree qualified in Electrical, Instrumentation, Mechatronics or a related Engineering discipline.
• Strong experience managing electrical and instrumentation construction activities from planning through to execution.
• Sound technical knowledge of HV/LV systems, switchgear, transformers, protection systems, control systems and instrumentation installations.
• Experience with PLC, DCS, SCADA, communications systems and control system interfaces.
• Demonstrated capability preparing and managing work packs, ITPs, ITRs, RFIs, technical queries, NCRs and commissioning documentation.
• Proof of right to work in Australia.
• Experience supporting procurement activities, vendor management, FATs, quality assurance and construction QA/QC requirements.
• Strong understanding of project controls including planning, scheduling, forecasting, cost control, change management and reporting.
• Experience in commissioning, energisation, hazardous area (EEHA) environments, substations, switch rooms, HV reticulation, grid connection infrastructure and Balance of Plant electrical systems.
• Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills, with experience working under EPC/EPCM delivery models and ideally exposure to gas-fired power stations, GTG packages and professional engineering registration (RPEQ or equivalent).
