Job summary

Verbrec in Adelaide CBD is seeking a Senior E&I Designer to work with engineers and project managers from concept to delivery. You will produce electrical, instrumentation, and PLC automation drawings, including SLDs, schematics, cable schedules, plant layouts, P&IDs and related construction drawings.

The role emphasizes collaboration, safety, and continuous improvement, with exposure to mining and oil and gas greenfield projects.

Qualifications

• Experience across electrical, instrumentation and PLC automation design.
• Proficient with AutoCAD and/or MicroStation drawing packages.
• Knowledge of Australian Drafting Codes and Standards.
• Experience in mining, oil & gas, water infrastructure or materials handling industries.
• Drafting diploma or higher, preferably in electrical design.
• Ability to work under limited supervision.

Responsibilities

• Produce electrical, instrumentation, PLC automation drawings including SLDs and schematics.
• Create cable schedules, plant layouts, earthing design drawings, network drawings and panel/marshalling boxes layouts.
• Prepare P&ID diagrams and instrument hookup drawings.
• Collaborate with engineers and project managers from concept to project delivery to drive continuous improvement.
• Contribute to tenders and cost estimates with BOM consideration.

You will be a detail-oriented Senior E&I Designer, who can work closely with Engineers and Project Managers from concept stage to project delivery. You will work with other designers to ensure we have continuous improvement in our designs and increase the technical competence of yourself and the team. You will bring to the role:

• Design capability across electrical, instrumentation, PLC automation,
• Ability to produce following engineering designs, such as:
• • Single Line Drawings (SLD’s),
  • Schematics and Termination drawings,
  • Cable schedules,
  • Plant layouts (ex: Cable routing, equipment, etc.) drawings,
  • Earthing design drawings,
  • Network drawings,
  • Panel, Switch board, Marshalling boxes, Remote IO boxes etc. general arrangement drawings,
  • P&ID’s,
  • Instrument hook up drawings,
  • Simple structural and civil drawings (ex: Substation and transformer plinths/pads, instrument bracket design etc.),
  • Construction standard drawings.

This position would suit Senior E&I Designers with experience in the areas of mining and oil & gas greenfield projects with skills and experiences across:

• Experience using AutoCAD and/or MicroStation drawing packages,
• Experience using drawing standards libraries and Document Control processes
• Understanding of generating bill of materials, estimates and quotations for tenders,
• Understanding of Australian Drafting Codes and Standards,
• Experience working in the mining, oil and gas, water infrastructure or materials handling industries,
• Ideally you will have a Drafting diploma or higher, preferably in electrical design,
• Ability to work under limited supervision on occasion.
