Job summary

James Fisher and Sons is looking for a Senior Diving and Hyperbaric Technician to join our Caringbah, NSW team. This full-time, permanent role supports critical diving operations through service, maintenance and testing of military diving products and life-support equipment, delivering hands-on technical support and training to customers.

You will travel to client sites, ensure equipment remains mission-ready, interpret engineering drawings and mentor junior technicians while upholding safety

Qualifications

• Mechanical trade qualification or equivalent hands-on engineering experience.
• Proven experience servicing breathing apparatus or diving equipment.
• Strong knowledge of life support systems and ability to interpret engineering drawings.
• Attention to detail with emphasis on safety and quality.
• Strong communication and training abilities.
• Well-organised and able to manage priorities.

Responsibilities

• Service, maintain and test commercial and defence diving equipment.
• Carry out planned and corrective maintenance incl. hydrostatic and pneumatic testing.
• Complete service records, work instructions and technical documentation accurately.
• Provide technical support, fault-finding and repairs in-house and at client sites.
• Deliver hands-on training and mentor technicians within the competency framework.
• Support customer visits with technical expertise and practical assistance.

The Role:

The Senior Diving & Hyperbaric Technician will play a key role in supporting critical diving operations through the service, maintenance and testing of Military Diving Products and specialist life support equipment. Working to the highest safety and quality standards, you'll deliver hands-on technical support, provide training to customers, and travel to customer sites to ensure equipment remains mission-ready and operationally effective.

What you’ll be doing:

• Service, maintain and test a range of commercial and defence diving equipment, including Divex systems.
• Carry out planned and corrective maintenance, including hydrostatic and pneumatic testing.
• Complete service records, work instructions and technical documentation accurately.
• Provide technical support, fault-finding and repairs both in-house and at customer sites.
• Deliver hands-on training and mentorship to Dive & Hyperbaric Technicians as they progress through the competency framework.
• Support customer service visits by providing technical expertise and practical assistance.
• Use JFD systems effectively and collaborate with Engineering to identify service improvements and resolve technical issues.
• Assist with the coordination and administration of internal and external training programmes, ensuring training plans align with operational requirements.

What we’re looking for:

• Strong technical knowledge of Life Support Systems and the ability to interpret engineering drawings.
• Excellent attention to detail, with a commitment to quality, safety and compliance.
• Strong communication skills with the ability to train, support and collaborate with colleagues and customers.
• Well-organised and self-motivated, able to manage priorities independently and as part of a team.
