Tasmania Government seeks an Assistant Director to lead Aboriginal Heritage Tasmania, providing strategic leadership and authoritative advice to protect, manage and promote Tasmania's Aboriginal heritage and land return initiatives.

Based in Hobart or Launceston, you will oversee staff, budgets and projects, and work with communities and agencies to deliver outcomes that respect Aboriginal leadership and culture. Flexible work options available.

Qualifications

• Significant experience in Aboriginal heritage and cultural heritage management.
• Strong knowledge of policy development and government processes.
• Proven leadership in people, budgets and resources to deliver strategic outcomes.
• Excellent communication, negotiation and analytical skills.
• Ability to engage with Aboriginal communities and stakeholders.
• Willingness to base in Hobart or Launceston.

Responsabilités

• Support the leadership and operational management of Aboriginal Heritage Tasmania, including staff, financial and information resources.
• Lead the delivery of significant strategic projects, programs and initiatives that support Aboriginal heritage outcomes across Tasmania.
• Build and maintain strong, collaborative relationships with Aboriginal communities, government agencies and key stakeholders.
• Prepare high-level submissions, briefings, reports and correspondence to inform decision-making and government priorities.
• Represent Aboriginal Heritage Tasmania and the Department in forums, consultations and discussions relating to Aboriginal heritage and Aboriginal land return matters.
