Job summary

Moddex is seeking a Senior Designer with SolidWorks Simulation expertise to join our Design team in Maryborough, Queensland. You will lead structural analysis, provide in-house verification, and guide a team through pre-construction design milestones.

You will advance our modular handrail and related systems, drive automation initiatives with DriveWorks, and ensure drawings comply with AS1100 and Australian standards. A senior technical role reporting to the Design Manager awaits.

Qualifications

Seven+ years in steel detailing, structural drafting or mechanical design at senior/lead levels.
Experience running structural analysis in SolidWorks Simulation with first-principles hand calculations.
Advanced SolidWorks experience in manufacturing/steel fabrication environments.
Pre-construction or tender-stage design experience on commercial, civil or infrastructure projects.
Australian Standards compliant documentation and demonstrated ability to work independently.

Responsibilities

Run structural analysis and load checks using SolidWorks Simulation and hand calculations.
Coordinate submissions to certification authorities and external engineers for sign-off.
Produce detailed steel design and fabrication drawings in SolidWorks to Moddex standards.
Detail connections, welds, fasteners and surface treatments per specs.
Provide senior design input at tender and pre-construction stages and resolve interfaces/clashes.
Mentor to CAD detailers and coordinators; manage SolidWorks PDM data and revisions.
