Job summary

FWR Pty Ltd in Brisbane, QLD is seeking an experienced Mechanical Design Engineer to join our trailer manufacturing team. You will design and develop heavy transport trailers, creating concepts, 3D models and detailed fabrication drawings aimed at manufacturability on the workshop floor.

The role emphasizes hands-on involvement with management, production leaders and suppliers to ensure designs meet project objectives, manufacturing constraints and Australian standards.

Qualifications

• Strong trailer engineering and design experience.
• Heavy transport equipment experience preferred.
• Solid understanding of manufacturing processes.
• Experience with design validation and calculations.
• Knowledge of Australian heavy vehicle regulations desirable.

Responsibilities

• Manage available engineering hours and prioritise workloads.
• Develop concepts, 3D models and fabrication drawings in SolidWorks.
• Collaborate with management and production to meet constraints.
• Refine existing trailer designs and expand new product lines.
• Perform engineering calculations and simulations to validate designs.
• Produce accurate manufacturing drawings and BOMs.
• Generate and maintain engineering documentation.
• Coordinate with external engineers and suppliers to meet compliance.
• Support production with technical queries and problem solving.
• Contribute to continuous improvement across engineering and manufacturing.
