Job summary

City of Whittlesea is seeking a Deputy Municipal Building Surveyor (PD) to lead and mentor a multidisciplinary building services team. The role ensures statutory service delivery under the Building Act 1993 and Local Government Act 2020, with delegation to act in the MBS's absence.

Qualifications

• Minimum 7 years local government experience.
• Excellent communication and leadership skills.
• Strong technical judgement and understanding of building legislation.

Responsibilities

• Support the MBS and Council in managing complex regulatory matters under Building Act 1993 and Local Government Act 2020.
• Provide technical and leadership mentoring to staff within the building services team.
• Act under full delegation in the MBS's absence and support delegation to maintain statutory service delivery.
• Deputy Municipal Building Surveyor to perform statutory functions as required, ensuring leadership continuity.
• Contribute to Council's emergency call-out roster and support life safety and incident management.
• Represent Council in high-risk and compliance matters, including court proceedings and technical assessments.
