Job summary

Verse is seeking a Senior Databricks Engineer in Perth to lead data engineering and AI initiatives. The role focuses on delivering scalable Databricks-based solutions and modernising legacy data platforms within a large enterprise context. You will work across Databricks, Spark, PySpark, Python and Azure AI in a fast-paced environment.

The position is a 12-month contract with a view to longer-term engagement, offering immediate start and hybrid work in a Perth-based setting.

Responsibilities

• Design and deliver scalable data solutions using Databricks, Apache Spark and PySpark.
• Support the modernisation of legacy data platforms through migration to Databricks Lakehouse architectures.
• Build and optimise data pipelines using Python, SQL and Spark for large-scale processing and integration.
• Assess existing data architectures and recommend improvements to performance, scalability and efficiency.
• Leverage Azure AI and emerging technologies to support data and AI initiatives.
• Diagnose and resolve complex data, integration and performance issues; ensure solutions meet enterprise standards for reliability, maintainability and performance.
• Partner with business and technical stakeholders to translate requirements into production-ready solutions.
• Provide technical direction across solution design, development and implementation.
• Take ownership of complex engineering challenges and drive delivery with minimal supervision.
• Identify opportunities to improve data platforms and engineering practices through modern technologies.
