Latitude IT in Melbourne's CBD is seeking a senior Database Architect to own and evolve the platform's data architecture. You will lead discovery, document dependencies, and translate complex systems into clear architectural artefacts that guide the product roadmap.
You'll collaborate with engineering and business stakeholders, reverse engineer existing databases, design scalable models, and propose data-driven solutions to improve performance and reliability across the enterprise software
We're partnering with an established technology business to appoint an experienced Database Architect to take ownership of database architecture, technical discovery and the ongoing evolution of a complex enterprise software platform.
This is an opportunity for someone who enjoys getting under the hood of established systems, understanding how applications and databases interact, uncovering undocumented architecture and designing robust, scalable data-driven solutions.
The initial focus will be a significant discovery engagement, requiring you to assess an existing platform, understand its database architecture, document dependencies and identify opportunities for improvement. From there, you'll play a key role in shaping the ongoing database architecture and technical direction.
You'll lead a comprehensive discovery exercise across an established software environment, working closely with engineering and technical stakeholders to understand how the platform operates.
You'll be responsible for uncovering existing database structures, relationships, application dependencies, data flows and business logic, particularly where documentation is limited or outdated.
This isn't simply a database administration position. We're looking for an architect who can lead discovery engagements, apply a structured methodology and translate complex technical environments into clear architectural documentation and actionable recommendations.
The existing environment includes:
Experience with AWS Aurora and MySQL will be advantageous.
If you've led complex database discovery engagements and enjoy turning undocumented technical environments into well-structured, scalable architectures, we'd be keen to hear from you.
