Job summary

NW People is seeking an experienced Senior Database Administrator on a 12-month contract to support a large Federal Government agency. The role encompasses MongoDB upgrades, migrations, and specialist DBA work across SQL Server, Db2 z/OS and Db2 Midrange.

You will collaborate with agency teams to plan, test and implement changes, maintain data integrity and availability, and strengthen database performance and resilience.

Qualifications

• Expert-level SQL Server administration including performance tuning, backup and recovery, high availability and security.
• Expert-level administration of Db2 z/OS and Db2 Midrange.
• Expert-level MongoDB administration including replication, backup and recovery, performance tuning and data consistency.
• Experience delivering controlled database upgrades and migrations.
• Hands-on experience supporting databases in containerised environments.
• Strong troubleshooting, technical documentation and stakeholder communication skills.
• Experience in complex government or enterprise ICT environments, and supporting knowledge transfer, is highly regarded.

The immediate priority is supporting critical MongoDB upgrades and migrations, alongside specialist database administration across SQL Server, Db2 z/OS and Db2 Midrange.

You will work closely with agency technical teams to plan, test and implement controlled changes, maintain data integrity and availability, and strengthen database performance and resilience.

• 12-month contract with an estimated January 2027 start
• Canberra, Melbourne, Brisbane or Adelaide; hybrid arrangements considered
• Deliver critical MongoDB upgrades and migrations in an enterprise environment
