Job summary

The Victorian Government's Policy and Closing the Gap branch in Melbourne is seeking a data-led policy analyst to support decision-making on Aboriginal affairs. The role focuses on data interpretation, strategic reporting, and evidence-based advice.

You will build relationships with stakeholders, coordinate consultations, and help deliver the Victorian Aboriginal Affairs Report and Closing the Gap Annual Report, including interactive data visualisation.

Qualifications

• Experience in quantitative and qualitative data research and analysis.
• Strong project management skills including budgeting and procurement.
• Ability to develop policy analysis and advice for senior decision making.
• Proven stakeholder management with government and non-government partners.
• Experience creating dashboards with BI tools (Tableau/Power BI/Datawrapper).
• Knowledge of Aboriginal policy and Indigenous data sovereignty.
• Experience working with Aboriginal communities and organisations.
• A relevant tertiary level qualification.

Responsibilities

• Data analysis and policy advice: analyse data and provide evidence-based recommendations.
• Stakeholder engagement: build relationships with stakeholders and coordinate consultations.
• Strategic reporting and evaluation: co-lead annual reports with data collection and visualisation.
• Policy development: develop reporting solutions aligned with relevant frameworks.
