Job summary

Bunnings is seeking a Senior Data Engineer to tackle complex data challenges and build trusted data products that empower decisions for customers and team. You’ll combine hands-on engineering with leadership in our Data, AI, Loyalty and Analytics team.

Using Python, SQL, dbt, Airflow and Snowflake, you’ll design pipelines, models and reusable solutions for enterprise reporting and self-service analytics, while guiding peers and contributing to data platform improvements.

Qualifications

• Seven+ years of experience in data engineering.
• Advanced Python, SQL and dbt skills.
• Hands-on Apache Airflow experience.
• Experience delivering production data solutions on Snowflake.
• Knowledge of dimensional modelling and Data Vault.
• Experience with CI/CD, automated testing, observability, and source control.
• Experience providing technical leadership and mentoring.
• Understanding of data governance, quality, lineage.

Responsibilities

• Lead the design and delivery of trusted data products for reporting, analytics and AI initiatives.
• Build production-ready pipelines and reusable transformation frameworks.
• Design dimensional models and Data Vault structures for clarity and reuse.
• Make technical decisions on performance, cost, security and reliability.
• Improve automation across testing, deployment, monitoring and recovery.
• Troubleshoot complex data and pipeline issues to improve reliability.
• Strengthen documentation, lineage and observability.
• Collaborate with architects, engineers, BI developers and data scientists.
