Job summary

Akkodis is seeking a senior data engineer in Australia’s Western Australia region to drive data transformation and pipeline automation across CAD, PLM, and manufacturing domains. The role emphasizes delivering production-ready data, provenance, and robust data quality controls while collaborating with Engineering, Manufacturing, and Digital teams.

Qualifications

• Must have senior, hands-on experience in data engineering/analytics.
• Mandatory AGSVA Baseline Security Clearance or higher to be considered.

Responsibilities

• Build, maintain and improve data pipelines between CAD, PLM and other engineering systems.
• Extract and transform complex, highly normalised engineering data.
• Reassemble component level data into production-ready items and hierarchical structures.
• Map engineering information into correct BOMs, parent-child relationships, and installation locations.
• Develop transformation logic using Python and Power Query.
• Cleanse, validate, map and enrich engineering datasets.
• Design and embed automated data quality checks throughout the pipeline.
• Assign and manage unique identifiers to maintain traceability between source and production data.
• Develop logic to identify, track and manage changes as designs are revised.
• Work with master and reference data to improve consistency and quality.
• Investigate poorly documented data and establish structures in less mature domains.
• Support migration of CAD and engineering data into PLM and other platforms.
• Collaborate with Engineering, Manufacturing, Supply Chain and Digital stakeholders.
• Resolve complex data quality, transformation and integration issues.
• Understand engineering information in context across design, manufacturing and product lifecycle processes.

The Project

You'll be working within a complex engineering and manufacturing environment undergoing significant digital and data transformation.

The program is improving how engineering information is structured, managed and transferred from design systems into Product Lifecycle Management systems and downstream manufacturing processes. A key focus is transforming complex CAD data into accurate, traceable and production ready information.

Working closely with Engineering, Manufacturing, Supply Chain and Digital teams, you'll help extend and automate existing data processes, improve data quality and ensure engineering information can move reliably from design through to production.

Please note: This position requires a current AGSVA security clearance at Baseline level or above. Candidates without a current Baseline or higher clearance cannot be considered.

Skills & Experience

To be successful, you will bring strong Data Engineering or Data Analytics experience, ideally gained within an engineering, manufacturing, defence or physical asset environment.

Experience working with engineering information is particularly important. Exposure to the following will be highly regarded:

• o CAD data and design systems
• o Product Lifecycle Management systems
• o Engineering to manufacturing data flows
• o Part numbering, configuration and engineering change management
• o Product or asset lifecycle data
• o Piping, electrical, mechanical or other engineering disciplines

We're looking for a senior, hands on professional who is comfortable working with limited direction. You'll need to investigate complex data, develop practical transformation logic and understand the meaning and context of engineering information rather than simply moving data between systems.

Mandatory requirement: You must hold a current AGSVA Baseline Security Clearance or higher to be considered for this opportunity.
