Job summary

Grant Thornton Australia is seeking a Senior Data Analyst to shape our data landscape by building models and pipelines, and delivering actionable analytics. You’ll work with a close-knit Digital Team including Data Scientists and BI specialists on a greenfield data environment.

You’ll model data, implement pipelines, and create dashboards that drive data-informed decisions, collaborating across technical and non-technical stakeholders in a hybrid, full-time role.

Qualifications

• Advanced SQL skills for querying and transforming large datasets.
• Proficiency in Python/pySpark for data manipulation, analysis, and automation.
• Hands-on experience with Databricks notebooks, workflows, and collaboration.
• Strong experience building dashboards and data models in Power BI or similar BI tools.
• Comfortable working with cloud-based data platforms, ideally Azure.
• Ability to collaborate with both technical teams and non-technical stakeholders to deliver data solutions.

Responsibilities

• Partner with stakeholders to gather data and reporting requirements and translate them into analytics solutions.
• Build and maintain clean, reliable datasets using SQL and Python in Databricks.
• Develop and deliver dashboards and reports using Power BI.
• Use Python/pySpark in Databricks to automate data workflows.
• Support data pipelines and processes with other data specialists.
• Work with cloud-based data platforms, particularly Azure, ensuring secure, reliable data solutions.

About this role

Join our innovative Digital Team as a Senior Data Analyst and embark on a journey where your skills in data modelling, integration and analysis will be pivotal in shaping our business landscape. This permanent, full-time position reports directly to theHead of Applications, Data, and Integration, and offers the unique opportunity to collaborate with a close-knit team of experts, includingData Scientists,BI Specialists and Application Specialists. Building on our greenfield data environment, your contributions will leave a lasting impact as you implement data models and pipelines that support meaningful and actionable analytics, helping to drive positive change with an engaged and supportive business.

Key responsibilities

• Partner with stakeholders across the business to gather data and reporting requirements, and translate them into effective, scalable analytics solutions.

• Build andmaintainclean, reliable datasets using SQL and Python within Databricks, supporting both operational reporting and strategic analysis.

• Develop and deliver insightful dashboards and reports using Power BI to help drive data-informed decisions.

• Use Python/pySparkin Databricks to automate data preparation, analysis, and reporting workflows.

• Support the development and improvement of data pipelines and processes in collaboration withother data specialists,ensuring data isaccurate,timely, and accessible.

• Work with cloud-based data platforms, particularly within Microsoft Azure. Collaborate with engineering team members to ensure data solutions are secure, reliable, and well-integrated.

Skills & experience

• Advanced SQL skills for querying and transforming large datasets across various sources.

• Proficiencyin Python/pySpark, particularly in the context of Databricks, for data manipulation, analysis, and automation.

• Hands-on experience working in Databricks, including familiarity with notebooks, workflows, and collaborative data development.

• Strong experience building dashboards and data models in Power BI or similar BI tools.

• Comfortable working with cloud-based data platforms, ideally within Azure.

• Ability to collaborate with both technical teams and non-technical stakeholders to deliver data solutions that meet business needs.

• Familiarity with data best practices, including governance, quality, and documentation.
