Job description

At SA Water, our work sustains life. Every day, we deliver safe, reliable water and wastewater services to more than 1.8 million South Australians, supporting healthy communities across our state.

Behind this essential service are people who care. From engineering and science to construction, digital, operations and customer experience, every role plays a part. We bring our authentic selves to work, driven by purpose, supporting one another to deliver work that truly matters.

About the job

As a Senior Cyber Security Analyst, you will play a critical role in assessing, monitoring, auditing and reporting against cyber security risk across the organisation. You will ensure alignment with the Cyber Security Program (CSP) in line with the South Australian Cyber Security Framework (SACSF), providing governance and assurance that strengthens our security posture.

Working as part of our collaborative Cyber & Resilience team, you will conduct risk assessments, contribute to the Cyber Security Capital Plan, provide expert advice to guide secure technology solutions and support informed business decision making.

This ongoing, full-time role requires the successful candidate to obtain and maintain a AusCheck Security Clearance.

About the Person

The ideal candidate will be a cyber security professional who brings experience in governance, risk and compliance, with the technical knowledge and experience to apply this in modern digital environments. You understand threats, controls, frameworks and architecture considerations, and can translate complex security insights into clear, practical guidance.

You enjoy working with diverse stakeholders and are comfortable influencing decisions by explaining risk and recommending improvements. You are analytical and forward-thinking, able to monitor emerging trends, undertake structured assurance activities, and contribute to meaningful maturity uplift. Experience supporting incident response, interpreting vulnerability and threat intelligence, and guiding secure solution design will help you succeed in this role.

Your background may include working across cyber governance, risk assessments, assurance programs, continuous improvement, and exposure to environments such as cloud services, operational technology, SCADA, mobility or enterprise platforms.

About Technology

The Technology business group enables everything SA Water does. We provide the digital platforms, systems and data that support safe, reliable water and wastewater services for communities across South Australia.

Working in Technology means delivering purpose‑driven work with real‑world impact. You’ll find opportunities to support critical operational systems, strengthen cyber security, unlock insights through data, and modernise how we operate. You’ll partner closely with frontline, engineering, and corporate teams to design solutions that are practical, secure, and fit for a 24/7 utility environment.

Be part of a people‑focused, future‑ready team that values collaboration, learning, and innovation. It’s a team where your work helps keep essential services running today and supports a more resilient South Australia into the future.

In addition, your responsibilities will include:

Fostering trust with our people, customers and community by providing expert advice and service that ensure we effectively communicate and engage audiences with our business strategy and its delivery across South Australia, every day.

You will:

  • Be a subject matter expert in quality assurance and continuous improvement of cyber security controls across the business.
  • Provide specialist advice for technology risk assessments, solution designs, and change control activities.
  • Undertake cyber security activities against the CSP calendar and report on findings and risks.
  • Contribute to the Cyber Security Capital Plan by identifying opportunities to address technical debt and uplift maturity.
  • Monitor emerging threats and ensure appropriate mitigations are integrated into the cyber environment.
  • Support incident response and reporting in line with corporate cyber security processes.
  • Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to embed governance and assurance practices across digital systems.

Your success in this role will come from:

  • Degree in a related technical or business discipline, or equivalent experience.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to think strategically and conceptually.
  • Demonstrated leadership experience influencing people at all levels.
  • Proven experience in developing and maintaining continuous improvement or assurance systems.
  • Knowledge of the South Australian Cyber Security Framework (SACSF) or similar governance models (desirable).
  • Experience leading or governing improvement projects or re‑engineering initiatives (desirable).

A great customer experience is best achieved by having a diverse and inclusive team that reflects the community we serve. Applications are encouraged from everyone, including people living with disability, job seekers of all ages, members of the LGBTIQA+ community, Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, and people from culturally diverse backgrounds.
