Job description

About the Company

At SA Water, our work sustains life. Every day, we deliver safe, reliable water and wastewater services to more than 1.8 million South Australians, supporting healthy communities across our state.

Behind this essential service are people who care. From engineering and science to construction, digital, operations and customer experience, every role plays a part. We bring our authentic selves to work, driven by purpose, supporting one another to deliver work that truly matters.

About the job

As our People Central Coordinator, you will be the friendly and trusted first point of contact for employees and leaders across SA Water. You will provide clear, timely and professional support, whether someone reaches out with a question over the phone, submits a request through ServiceNow, or requires assistance with people and learning-related processes.

Working at the heart of our People & Safety team and in a fast‑paced, agile environment, you will help keep things moving behind the scenes by preparing accurate documentation, supporting our people systems, coordinating learning and development activities, and ensuring our processes are smooth, compliant and centred around the needs of our people. This includes supporting training administration activities such as course bookings, vendor coordination and maintaining accurate learning records.

Everything you do will contribute to making SA Water a great place to work and ensuring our people feel supported throughout every stage of the employee lifecycle.

About the Person

You are someone who enjoys helping others and thrives in a role where every interaction matters. You bring warmth, strong communication skills and a keen eye for detail, and you take pride in delivering service that feels personal, supportive and dependable.

You love solving problems, exploring new ideas and using your people knowledge to guide others with clarity and care. You are highly organised and capable of managing a variety of administrative and coordination activities, including supporting learning and development initiatives, training bookings and external training providers. You are tech‑savvy, curious about how systems work, and always looking for opportunities to make processes smoother and simpler.

You are comfortable working in a dynamic, changing environment and enjoy adapting quickly to new priorities. Most importantly, you value teamwork, connection and creating positive experiences for the people around you.

About People and Safety

The People and Safety business group supports the capability, wellbeing, and safety of our workforce. The team brings together human resources, talent attraction, organisational development, and safety and wellbeing to ensure our people can do their best work, safely and sustainably

Working in People and Safety means shaping culture, attracting and developing talent, supporting leaders and teams, and strengthening safe, inclusive workplaces across South Australia. Your work will help ensure we have the right people, skills, and environments to deliver essential water and wastewater services now and into the future.

Your responsibilities for this opportunity

Fostering trust with our people, customers and community by providing expert advice and service that ensure we effectively communicate and engage audiences with our business strategy and its delivery across South Australia, every day.

You will:

  • Provide responsive, professional customer service to employees and leaders, tailoring your support to the complexity of each enquiry.
  • Prepare accurate, high-quality documentation including contracts, letters and employment lifecycle correspondence.
  • Coordinate learning and development administration activities, including training bookings, vendor engagement, learner communications and maintaining training records.
  • Support leaders to navigate people systems and processes with confidence.
  • Collaborate with Technology and People Operations teams to troubleshoot issues and contribute to improving workflows.
  • Look for opportunities to simplify, automate and streamline processes to enhance efficiency and employee experience.
Your success in this role will come from:
  • Tertiary Qualifications in Human Resources, Business, Psychology, Law or other related fields, or equivalent experience.
  • Critical thinking skills and a demonstrated ability to think innovatively and explore new ideas.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills and ability to communicate with various stakeholders across the business.
  • Strong problem solving and decision-making skills.
  • Highly computer literate with capabilities in Microsoft Office suite of tools and HR related technology platforms.
  • Ability to work autonomously to strict deadlines.
  • Experience supporting people‑related administration, training coordination, learning and development activities, or working with external training providers and vendors.
