You'll review products and infrastructure, advise on secure design, support governance, and contribute to security awareness. The role offers strong day rate and exposure across major technology programs with real public-sector impact.

Qualifications

• Experience providing risk-based cyber security advice and assurance across technology projects and services.
• Hands-on experience securing Microsoft Azure / Entra ID environments, including network security.
• Certifications such as CISSP, CISA or CISM are highly regarded; OT security knowledge is a plus.
• Experience reviewing applications, systems and infrastructure from a security lens.

Cyber Security Advisor | 12-Month Contract | $900–$1,100/day ex. super | Sydney

A well-known Sydney government organisation is seeking an experienced Cyber Security Advisor to join on a 12-month contract. This is a senior, hands-on role providing security guidance across the organisation's technology programs.

The role:

• Provide risk-based cyber security advice, assessments and assurance across technology projects, systems and services
• Review new products, services, applications and infrastructure solutions, recommending fit-for-purpose controls
• Advise project and technology teams on secure design and implementation
• Support cyber security governance — policies, standards and procedures
• Contribute to security awareness and training initiatives

What you'll bring:

• Strong working knowledge of the ASD Essential Eight (and familiarity with ISO 27001/27002/27005, NIST, ISM)
• Hands-on experience securing Microsoft Azure / Entra ID environments, including network security
• Solid background in cyber security advisory, risk assessment, assurance or governance
• Experience reviewing applications, systems and infrastructure from a security lens
• CISSP, CISA or CISM highly regarded; OT security knowledge a plus
