Job summary

ERM seeks a Managing Consultant (Senior Environmental Scientist) – Contaminated Land to join our Newcastle team. You will lead complex site investigations, guide teams, and deliver high‑quality environmental solutions for major clients.

The role offers mentoring, client engagement, and opportunities to work on local, national, and international projects within our global sustainability practice. Travel and fieldwork are part of the job.

Qualifications

5–8 years of contaminated land consulting experience.
Relevant tertiary qualification in geology, hydrogeology, environmental science, environmental engineering, or soil science.
Experience in site investigations and remediation in a consultancy.
Strong project management, budgeting, and client engagement.
Willingness to travel to client/project sites.
Valid Australian driver’s licence and work rights.
Membership in the Certified Environmental Practitioner Scheme or similar is highly regarded.

Responsibilities

Lead and manage complex site investigations, remediation programs, and environmental risk assessments.
Supervise and mentor junior team members, helping them develop their technical and project management skills.
Engage with clients and stakeholders, delivering high-quality environmental solutions while building strong, lasting relationships.
Oversee and manage field programs, subcontractor management ensuring projects are delivered safely and efficiently.
Develop project proposals and budgets, contributing to the growth and success of our national operations.
Collaborate with our global team of experts, gaining exposure to innovative methodologies and best practices.
