With a strong focus on community engagement and innovation, the institution plays a critical role in shaping the future of higher education in Australia. You'll be part of a supportive and forward-thinking environment that values collaboration, integrity, and continuous improvement.

Purpose of the Role

Reporting to the Manager, Leadership, Capability and Performance, the Senior Consultant will play a key role in shaping and delivering high-impact organisational development (OD) initiatives across leadership, capability, employee experience, and performance. This role will have a strong focus on a strategic performance development project, aiming to enhance individual and organisational performance across the university.

You'll collaborate with stakeholders across People and Culture (P&C) and the broader university to co-design and implement practical, scalable solutions. Whether leading specific initiatives or supporting wider OD programs, your work will contribute to building a culture of high performance and engagement.

Responsibilities
  • Lead and / or significantly contribute to enterprise-wide initiatives spanning performance development, leadership, capability building, and employee experience.
  • Drive a focused 6-month performance development project, providing strategic and hands-on support to optimise performance processes and culture.
  • Lead the planning, implementation, and evaluation of complex projects, ensuring they align with strategic priorities, are well-governed, and meet deadlines and budgets.
  • Analyse complex workforce and learning data to generate actionable insights and recommendations that inform decision-making.
  • Build effective partnerships across P&C and university faculties, working collaboratively with Business Partners and Workplace Relations to align efforts with internal frameworks.
  • Provide expert advice and coaching to senior leaders, guiding performance development efforts and influencing cultural outcomes.
  • Design, develop, and deliver programs, frameworks, communications, toolkits, and resources to support performance, leadership, and capability initiatives.
  • Coordinate post-survey activities related to the biennial Employee Experience Survey, including rollout and action planning.
  • Support performance-related communications and deliver workshops, briefings, and other learning sessions using principles of adult learning and instructional design.
About you
  • Relevant degree with extensive experience, or postgraduate qualifications (or progress toward), or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Proven expertise as an Organisational Development (OD) practitioner with a strong focus on performance development, including annual reviews and performance management.
  • Track record in partnering with senior leaders, providing coaching and influencing outcomes at all levels of the organisation.
  • Strong project management capabilities, with experience delivering OD programs that meet scope, time, budget, and engagement targets.
  • Deep understanding of performance culture and experience working alongside Business Partners and Workplace Relations to deliver aligned, best-practice solutions.
  • Highly analytical with the ability to interpret complex data, identify trends and root causes, and deliver evidence-based insights.
  • Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills; able to influence, negotiate, and build lasting relationships.
  • Proactive, detail-oriented, and outcome-focused, with a demonstrated commitment to quality and continuous improvement.
  • Willing to undertake and pass a Victorian Working with Children Check.
