EY in Sydney is seeking a Senior Consultant in Internal Audit - Risk Consulting to deliver high-quality client services, monitor progress, and apply deep technical knowledge. You’ll support internal audit strategies, assess risks, and contribute to risk-based audit plans across diverse engagements.

This hybrid role is based in Sydney, offering opportunities to build long-term client relationships, lead smaller teams, and grow within a global, inclusive EY network.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or master’s degree in finance, business, accounting or related discipline.
• Experience in Internal Audit.
• Professional accreditations within one year of hire (CPA, CISA, CA, CIA, CISM, CISSP, CBCP, CIPP).

Responsibilities

• Support clients by aligning internal audit strategies with business objectives through assessments, transformation initiatives, and co-sourced or outsourced services.
• Identify, assess, and analyse operational and enterprise risks with practical recommendations to strengthen risk management.
• Evaluate the impact of legislation and regulatory requirements to help manage compliance, financial, and operational risks.
• Perform internal control and SOX testing, assess control frameworks, and support risk-based internal audit plans.
• Deliver internal audits across compliance, financial, operational, and strategic risk areas.

Senior Consultant - Internal Audit - Risk Consulting The opportunity

As our Senior Consultant in our Risk Consulting, Process & Controls Practice you will consistently deliver quality client services by monitoring progress. Demonstrate in-depth technical capabilities and professional knowledge. Maintain long-term client relationships and networks. Cultivate business development opportunities.

This is a hybrid position based in Warrang - Sydney.

Your key responsibilities

• Support clients in aligning internal audit strategies with broader business objectives through assessments, transformation initiatives, and co-sourced or outsourced internal audit services.
• Identify, assess, and analyse operational and enterprise risks, providing practical recommendations to strengthen risk management frameworks.
• Evaluate the impact of emerging legislation and regulatory requirements, helping organisations manage compliance, financial, and operational risks.
• Perform internal control and SOX testing, assess control frameworks, and support the development and execution of risk-based internal audit plans.
• Deliver internal audits across compliance, financial, operational, and strategic risk areas, helping clients strengthen controls and address current and emerging risks.

Skills and attributes for success

• A bachelor’s or master’s degree qualification in finance, business, accounting or related discipline.
• Experience in Internal Audit.
• Professional accreditations and qualifications will also be considered favourably (CPA, CISA, CA, CIA, CISM, CISSP, CBCP, CIPP certification within one year of hire)
