Job summary

Altrad seeks an experienced Construction Manager in Australia to lead safe, efficient delivery of a major SMP infrastructure project in WA, including the Alkimos Desalination plant. You will head on-site activities, coordinate supervisors and subcontractors, interface with client representatives, and drive planning, safety, and cost control.

You will bring hands-on leadership, strong HSEQ culture, and proven SMP project experience to balance safety, productivity, and stakeholder expectations

Qualifications

• Strong commitment to HSEQ leadership and safety culture across construction activities.
• Significant experience in construction management within SMP projects with major scopes.
• Proven ability to lead and coordinate multidisciplinary site teams including supervisors and subcontractors.
• Solid understanding of construction methodologies, sequencing, and SIMOPS.
• Experience delivering complex on-site works with focus on safety, execution, and productivity.
• Well-developed stakeholder management skills interfacing with client and internal teams.
• Effective communication and solutions-focused issue resolution.
• Strong presence leading from the front to balance safety, cost, time, and quality.
• Sound commercial awareness to manage resources and costs.
• Knowledge of construction planning, scheduling, and short-term lookaheads.

Responsibilities

• Promote and lead a strong HSEQ culture across all construction activities.
• Lead and manage on-site construction across SMP scopes for safe, efficient execution.
• Oversee supervisors, superintendents, and subcontractors to drive aligned delivery.
• Work with project engineering and planning teams on practical construction strategies.
• Interface between site execution teams and client on-site representatives.
• Manage subcontractor performance, mobilisation, productivity and compliance.
• Drive planning, scheduling and lookaheads to meet deadlines.
• Navigate SIMOPS and complex environments focusing on safety and sequencing.
• Contribute to commercial outcomes through resource management and cost control.
