Job summary

McConnell Dowell Australia is seeking an experienced Construction Manager to oversee all construction activities on a major civil infrastructure project in metropolitan Adelaide. The role drives safe, efficient delivery, aligning with program, cost, quality and environmental requirements.

You will lead construction leaders, coordinate resources and subcontractors, manage stakeholder relationships and ensure delivery aligns with project objectives.

Qualifications

• Bachelor-level engineering degree or higher in a related field.
• Minimum 8 years in engineering construction, incl. 2+ years in leadership.
• Experience planning, organizing and leading a diverse workforce.
• Strong knowledge of safety, environment, quality and commercial delivery requirements.
• Proven ability to develop leaders, manage performance and build teams.
• Excellent stakeholder management, negotiation and problem-solving skills.
• Practical, results-driven approach with ability to balance priorities, timeframes and costs.

Responsibilities

• Lead and manage all construction activities to meet safety, quality, program and cost objectives.
• Provide direction, coaching and support to construction leaders, driving accountability and performance.
• Oversee construction planning, scheduling, resource allocation and site coordination.
• Ensure compliance with engineering, IR, environmental and quality requirements on delivery.
• Manage subcontractor and supplier performance, ensuring contractual and safety obligations.
• Monitor progress, costs and performance, report timely and identify improvement opportunities.
• Build strong relationships with client, project stakeholders and wider business.
