Job summary

Downer Energy & Utilities is seeking an experienced Construction Environmental Manager to join our Sustainability & Environment team on major transmission projects. This site-based leadership role provides environmental planning, monitoring, reporting and compliance support across complex construction programs.

You will lead a team, oversee environmental approvals, audits and stakeholder engagement, and drive continuous improvement to strengthen environmental performance across projects.

Qualifications

• Extensive knowledge of environmental legislation and regulatory requirements.
• Experience managing environmental outcomes on large-scale construction or infrastructure projects.
• Excellent stakeholder engagement and communication skills.
• Proven leadership capability and mentoring experience.

Responsibilities

• Provide environmental leadership across major transmission projects
• Lead a team of professionals and deliver proactive environmental support to project teams
• Implement and maintain Environmental Management Plans and CEMP
• Coordinate environmental approvals, licences and permit conditions
• Lead environmental audits, inspections and compliance activities
• Engage with regulators, clients and authorities
• Drive continuous environmental performance improvements
