Job summary

APA Group is seeking a Senior Concept Engineer to shape early-stage project development across gas transmission and storage opportunities. Based in Brisbane, Melbourne or Perth, you will translate requirements into practical engineering concepts and assess multiple options to support commercial and investment decisions.

• Experience in concept development, feasibility, FEED or other early-stage engineering activities within energy, infrastructure, resources or a related industry.
• Strong technical problem-solving and optioneering skills, with the ability to develop and assess solutions from a multidisciplinary perspective.
• Proven ability to work effectively with ambiguity and use sound engineering judgement where information or requirements are incomplete.
• Strong stakeholder engagement and communication skills, with the ability to clearly articulate complex technical concepts, risks and recommendations.

• Develop and evaluate multiple technical options, undertaking optioneering and trade-off assessments to identify viable solutions.
• Apply advanced engineering judgement to solve complex technical problems where information or project requirements may still be evolving.
• Prepare clear engineering reports, technical assessments and recommendations to support project development and key decision-making.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary engineering teams and internal and external stakeholders to develop solutions and progress opportunities through project stage gates

We now have an exciting opportunity available for a Senior Concept Engineer to join us in our Infrastructure Delivery Concept Engineering & Research team in Brisbane, QLD, Melbourne, VIC or Perth, WA on a Full-Time Permanent basis.

Reporting to the Manager Development Engineering, you will play a key role in shaping the early-stage development of APA’s infrastructure projects, developing and assessing engineering concepts that support technical, commercial and investment decisions.

Key Responsibilities

• Contribute to the technical development and assessment of concept and feasibility solutions (FEL1/FEL2) for gas transmission & storage growth projects and opportunities.

Your background

• Tertiary qualifications in a relevant engineering discipline, with demonstrated experience working in senior engineering roles.
• Experience in concept development, feasibility, FEED or other early-stage engineering activities within energy, infrastructure, resources or a related industry.
• Strong technical problem-solving and optioneering skills, with the ability to develop and assess solutions from a multidisciplinary perspective.
• Proven ability to work effectively with ambiguity and use sound engineering judgement where information or requirements are incomplete.
• Strong stakeholder engagement and communication skills, with the ability to clearly articulate complex technical concepts, risks and recommendations.
• A proactive and collaborative approach, with experience in gas transmission, pipelines, compression, storage or broader energy infrastructure highly regarded.
