Job summary

Genesis Recruitment Solutions in Parramatta is seeking a Senior Commercial Manager to own the commercial outcomes for a flagship road project valued at $500M+. You will lead a five-person team and provide strategic commercial, procurement and risk guidance across complex contracts.

The role is a 6-month contract with potential to influence delivery during a critical project phase. You will oversee risk, procurement, claims and variations, while partnering with project directors and delivery

Qualifications

• Extensive experience in major road infrastructure projects.
• Proven ability to lead commercial outcomes on large-scale construction projects.
• Track record in procurement, contract management and project delivery.
• Strong understanding of commercial risk management and allocation.
• Experience managing claims, variations and contractor negotiations.
• Experience leading and developing commercial teams.
• Knowledge of GC21 contracts desirable.
• Experience in NSW Government or major infrastructure environments is helpful.

Join a major roads infrastructure program shaping the future of Western Sydney. As Senior Commercial Manager, you will take ownership of the commercial outcomes for a flagship project valued at $500M+, leading a team of five and providing strategic commercial, procurement and risk advice across complex construction contracts. This is a unique opportunity to influence the successful delivery of one of the region's most significant infrastructure investments.

The Opportunity

This is a 6-month contract offering an attractive day rate.

Working across major road projects from Mamre Road through to Western Sydney Airport, with occasional projects in Liverpool and Blacktown, you will oversee the commercial delivery of a $500M+ project currently in the delivery phase.

You’ll lead a team of five, inheriting three established team members and helping build out the remaining capability, while acting as the trusted commercial advisor to project directors, delivery teams and key stakeholders.

What You’ll Be Doing

• Lead the commercial management of a major roads infrastructure contract valued at approximately $500M
• Provide strategic advice on risk, procurement, contract administration, claims, variations and commercial outcomes
• Manage and mentor a team of commercial professionals
• Support the delivery of both Construct and Design & Construct (D&C) contracts
• Drive proactive risk identification, mitigation and dispute avoidance strategies
• Partner closely with project delivery teams to ensure strong commercial performance throughout project execution
• Oversee contractor performance, claims, extensions of time and contract compliance
• Support procurement activities and strategic sourcing decisions

What We’re Looking For

• Extensive experience in major road infrastructure projects (essential)
• Strong background leading commercial outcomes on large-scale construction projects
• Demonstrated experience across procurement, contract management and project delivery
• Deep understanding of commercial risk management and allocation
• Experience managing claims, variations and contractor negotiations
• Previous leadership experience managing and developing commercial teams
• Experience working under GC21 contracts will be highly regarded
• Experience within NSW Government or major infrastructure environments highly desirable

• Based in Parramatta
• Hybrid working model: 3 days office, 1 day WFH, 1 day onsite
• Join a team of 40 infrastructure professionals
• Support a portfolio of approximately 40 active projects
• Projects are already in delivery, allowing you to make an immediate impact
