Job summary

AusNet in Victoria is seeking a Senior Commercial Manager to establish the commercial foundations for the Victorian Transmission Plan (VTP) and VicGrid projects. The role, based at Freshwater Place, sits within the Transmission Development, Customer & Portfolio team and involves driving commercial outcomes across a growing project portfolio with senior stakeholders.

You will lead negotiations, governance and risk management, influence strategic decisions and shape how major energy infrastructure

Qualifications

• Significant commercial leadership experience within energy, utilities, infrastructure, transport, government programs or large complex projects.
• Expertise in commercial negotiations, contract management, risk allocation, governance and strategy development.
• Strong stakeholder management and ability to influence at executive level amid complexity, ambiguity and change.
• A related degree with practical experience delivering commercial outcomes on large-scale projects.

Responsibilities

• Lead commercial strategy, contracting frameworks and risk allocation across VicGrid initiated projects and the Victorian Transmission Plan portfolio.
• Partner with project teams, VicGrid and key stakeholders to develop, negotiate and manage complex commercial agreements that enable successful project development through to delivery.
• Provide portfolio wide commercial leadership across multiple projects, ensuring robust governance, reporting, commercial controls and value-for-money outcomes.
• Influence strategic decisions, delivery models and commercial frameworks that support Victoria's transition to renewable energy infrastructure.

Join AusNet at a pivotal moment in Victoria's energy transition. As ourSenior Commercial Manager, you'll play a critical role in establishing the commercial foundations for the Victorian Transmission Plan (VTP) and other VicGrid initiated projects. This newly created position offers the rare opportunity to build and shape a commercial function while influencing how some of Victoria's most significant energy infrastructure projects are developed and delivered.

Reporting to the Project Development Director, this role is based at Freshwater Place and sits within the Transmission Development, Customer & Portfolio team. You'll work across a growing portfolio of projects, partnering with senior stakeholders to drive commercial outcomes, manage risk and create long-term value for customers, communities and AusNet.

What you’ll help deliver

• Lead commercial strategy, contracting frameworks and risk allocation across VicGrid initiated projects and the Victorian Transmission Plan portfolio.

You don’t need to check every box, however we’re looking for a good combination of:

• Significant commercial leadership experience within energy, utilities, infrastructure, transport, government programs or similarly complex project environments.
• Expertise in commercial negotiations, contract management, risk allocation, governance and commercial strategy development.
• Strong stakeholder management skills with the ability to influence at executive level and navigate complexity, ambiguity and change.
• A degree in Commerce, Law, Economics, Engineering or a related discipline, with practical experience delivering commercial outcomes in large scale projects.
