Job summary

BMD Group in Australia is seeking a Senior Commercial Leader to oversee procurement, finance and contract-management on a major Tier 1 infrastructure program in South Australia. You will implement disciplined systems, lead a commercial team and deliver sound governance across interfaces with clients, consultants and suppliers.

The role requires extensive experience in construction contracts, governance, risk management and value-for-money decisions on large projects, with relocation to Adelaide.

Qualifications

• Experience in commercial and contract management within construction or infrastructure.
• Proven ability to lead a contract administration team.
• Qualifications in law, finance, business, accounting or related discipline.
• Experience with job-costing systems, GST, and MS Word/Excel.
• Ability to organise under pressure, meet deadlines, and work independently while contributing to the wider project team.
• Experience presenting to Senior Executives.
• Experience delivering commercial outcomes on major infrastructure projects for government authorities, Tier 1 contractors or joint ventures.
• Willingness to relocate to Adelaide.

About the Role

Lead the commercial function for a major infrastructure opportunity, establishing disciplined procurement, finance, cost and contract-management systems that support sound governance and project outcomes. BMD is building a project leadership team for a major Tier 1 infrastructure opportunity in South Australia. The role will support a complex, multidisciplinary program with significant civil, structural and marine interfaces.

Your role will include:

• Develop and manage project procurement, finance and cost-control systems and processes.
• Provide commercial leadership through financial reporting, analysis, forecasting and value-for-money decision support.
• Lead contract administration, commercial risk management and project commercial governance.
• Manage and develop the project commercial team.
• Build constructive working relationships across project, administrative, client, consultant, supplier and subcontractor interfaces.
• Support tender and post-tender activities and the transition into delivery, subject to award.

About You

To be successful, you will bring:

Extensive experience in commercial, contract management within the construction and/or infrastructure industry.

• Demonstrated experience leading a contract administration team.
• Qualifications in law, finance, business, accounting or a related discipline.
• Experience with job-costing systems, GST and intermediate to advanced Microsoft Word and Excel.
• Ability to organise and prioritise under pressure, meet deadlines and work independently while contributing to the wider project team.
• Experience operating at a senior management level within business or project environments, including the preparation, presentation and communication of reports to Senior Executives.
• Experience delivering commercial and contract administration outcomes on major infrastructure projects for government authorities, Tier 1 contractors or joint ventures.
• Willingness to relocate to Adelaide.

Highly regarded:

• Experience leading and building a project commercial team.
• Experience across complex design and construct, ECI, joint venture or multidisciplinary delivery environments.
• Current knowledge of applicable security-of-payment and commercial obligations in the project jurisdiction.
