Job summary

UGL is seeking a Commercial Manager to lead the commercial function across major infrastructure projects in Australia. You will drive governance, financial performance, contract compliance and robust project controls, while partnering with project leadership to optimise commercial outcomes and manage risk.

You will mentor Project Managers and Contract Administrators, oversee claims and procurement, and ensure timely milestone payments to achieve positive cash flow.

Qualifications

• 15 years of experience in Finance and Commercial leadership roles with Major Projects background.
• Experience using SAP and Cost management systems.
• Proven experience leading commercial functions within construction, transport, infrastructure, defence, utilities or other safety-critical environments.
• Demonstrated success managing complex commercial risks, claims and financial outcomes on large-scale projects.
• Ability to influence senior leaders, build high-performing teams and drive commercial excellence.

Responsibilities

• Lead all aspects of the Commercial function including governance and controls.
• Provide leadership, direction, supervision and inspirational management to all team members.
• Direct interface with the customer at senior levels and maintain positive relationships.
• Lead the project across the CIMIC group and manage joint venture partner positions.
• Develop, implement and maintain project commercial disciplines for informed decision making.
• Set procurement expectations to ensure cost-effective supply chain and cash flow.
• Review contract obligations and workflows for compliance.
• Oversee major claims with Clients or Contractors and coordinate with Legal on actions.
• Ensure compliance with record keeping requirements.
• Undertake adhoc projects as directed by the Project Director.
