Job summary

HUB24 Limited in Sydney seeks an experienced Senior Cloud & Systems Engineer to design, build and operate scalable cloud infrastructure, with a focus on GCP and Terraform. You’ll lead technical delivery, set IaC standards and mentor engineers across Architecture, Security, DevOps, Network and Applications.

You’ll also contribute to automation initiatives, improve CI/CD pipelines, and support deployments and incident response in a hybrid environment.

Qualifications

• 8+ years IT experience with 5+ years in engineering roles.
• Strong production engineering with GCP and/or AWS.
• Advanced hands-on Terraform, modules and multi-env deployments.
• Cloud architecture, networking, security and identity knowledge.
• Experience with Ansible for configuration management.
• GitHub, Azure DevOps or similar version-control platforms.
• CI/CD pipelines using Azure DevOps, GitHub Actions, Bamboo or Harness.
• Experience with monitoring, observability and logging.
• Familiarity with Docker and Kubernetes.
• Scripting in Python, Bash or PowerShell.

Responsibilities

• Design, deploy and maintain cloud infra across GCP and AWS, focus on GCP.
• Build reusable Terraform modules and IaC across environments.
• Lead technical delivery including design, reviews and planning.
• Establish cloud, IaC and engineering standards and practices.
• Troubleshoot complex cloud, networking, security and identity issues.
• Develop CI/CD pipelines and infrastructure automation.
• Produce technical docs, runbooks and architecture artefacts.
• Mentor engineers and uplift team capability.
• Support deployments and incident response, occasional after-hours.

Why this is an exciting opportunity
We’re looking for an experienced Senior Cloud & Systems Engineer to join our Engineering team and help design, build and operate secure, scalable and highly available cloud infrastructure.
This is a hands-on senior technical role with a primary focus on GCP, alongside AWS, Terraform, infrastructure automation and enterprise cloud services. You’ll lead technical delivery, establish strong infrastructure-as-code practices, troubleshoot complex environments and mentor engineers while partnering closely with Architecture, Security, DevOps, Network and Application teams.
You’ll also contribute to AI and automation initiatives, helping identify and implement opportunities to automate engineering and operational processes securely and effectively.
What You’ll Be Doing

• Design, deploy and maintain cloud infrastructure across GCP and AWS, with a primary focus on GCP.
• Build and maintain reusable Terraform modules and manage infrastructure as code across multiple environments.
• Lead technical delivery, including code and PR reviews, solution design and implementation planning.
• Establish and promote cloud, IaC and engineering standards and best practices.
• Troubleshoot complex cloud, networking, security, infrastructure and identity issues across production and non-production environments.
• Build and enhance CI/CD pipelines and infrastructure automation.
• Resolve discrepancies between deployed infrastructure and Terraform state.
• Develop technical documentation, architecture artefacts, operational procedures and runbooks.
• Work closely with Development, DevOps, Security, Cloud, Network and Operations teams to ensure reliable, secure and scalable solutions.
• Mentor engineers and contribute to uplifting the technical capability and operational maturity of the team.
• Support deployments and incident response activities, including occasional after-hours support.

What You Bring
You don’t need to tick every box, but experience in the below will set you up for success.
Experience & Skills

• 8+ years’ IT experience, including at least 5 years in engineering roles.
• Strong production engineering experience with GCP and/or AWS, ideally with deep GCP capability.
• Advanced hands-on experience with Terraform, including modules, state management, pipelines and multi-environment deployments.
• Solid knowledge of cloud architecture, networking, security and identity.
• Experience with configuration management and automation tools such as Ansible.
• Strong experience with GitHub, Azure DevOps or similar version-control and delivery platforms.
• Experience building CI/CD pipelines using Azure DevOps, GitHub Actions, Bamboo, Harness or comparable tools.
• Experience with enterprise monitoring, observability, logging and alerting.
• Familiarity with Docker and Kubernetes.
• Scripting skills using Python, Bash or PowerShell.
• Demonstrated experience designing and implementing technical solutions and leading technical delivery.
• Strong troubleshooting, problem-solving and communication skills.
• Ability to mentor engineers, collaborate across technical teams and work autonomously.
• A relevant IT qualification, industry certification or equivalent professional experience.
• Cloud, automation, networking, infrastructure or security certifications are highly regarded.
