Job summary

Aurion is seeking a Senior Cloud Engineer to build and support our AWS-based cloud platform serving Australian organisations. You will ensure security, reliability, and high availability while mentoring a small team.

Key duties include optimizing SQL Server environments, enhancing automation, and collaborating across teams to evolve cloud services. A strong background in Linux/Windows, AWS, and SaaS-scale operations is expected.

Qualifications

• Strong systems administration across Linux and Windows.
• Experience with SQL Server, preferably HA setups.
• Hands-on knowledge of core AWS services.
• Experience with monitoring, security and automation in AWS.
• Exposure to container tech and CI/CD tooling is desirable.
• Able to troubleshoot complex issues and explain to tech and non-tech stakeholders.
• Experience operating SaaS at scale; AWS certs and leadership are a plus.

• Support and optimise cloud infrastructure including SQL Server environments for performance and reliability.
• Monitor cloud systems and perform troubleshooting and root cause analysis.
• Improve automation, monitoring and alerting to boost efficiency and visibility.
• Manage patching, backups and routine maintenance across cloud environments.
• Collaborate with internal teams to evolve Aurion's cloud services.
• Lead a small cloud engineering team and mentor teammates.

As a senior Cloud Engineer at Aurion, you’ll play a key role in building, supporting and improving our AWS‑hosted cloud platform. You’ll work hands‑on with cloud infrastructure that supports Australian organisations and hundreds of thousands of users, helping ensure our platform is secure, reliable and performing at its best.

Responsibilities

Build, maintain and improve Aurion’s AWS-based cloud platform to ensure it is secure, stable and highly available

Support and optimise cloud infrastructure, including SQL Server environments, to deliver strong performance and reliability

Monitor cloud systems and proactively resolve issues, including troubleshooting and root cause analysis

Improve automation, monitoring and alerting to enhance platform efficiency and visibility

Manage patching, backups and routine maintenance across cloud environments

Work collaboratively with internal teams to support the ongoing delivery and evolution of Aurion’s cloud services

Team lead including mentoring of a small cloud engineering team

Skills and experience

Strong systems administration skills across Linux and Windows environments

Experience supporting SQL Server environments, ideally in high availability configurations

Hands‑on knowledge of core AWS services

Experience with monitoring, security and automation tools within AWS

Exposure to container technologies and CI/CD or developer tooling is desirable

Ability to troubleshoot complex technical issues and communicate clearly with technical and non‑technical stakeholders

Experience operating SaaS platforms at scale and AWS certifications along with leadership experience is highly desirable but not essential.
