Job summary

Snowflake is seeking a Technical Architect, Migrations in Australia to lead migration design for large data workloads. You will guide customers and partners from assessment through go-live, shaping target architectures and ensuring secure, scalable data movement to the Snowflake platform.

As part of the Professional Services team in Australia and New Zealand, you will drive best practices, collaborate with SI partners, and accelerate delivery speed while maintaining governance and performance

Qualifications

• 8+ years of experience in data engineering, data warehousing or database architecture.
• Led at least one large data warehouse or database migration to a cloud data platform.
• Deep SQL skills and strong knowledge of data modeling, performance tuning and data warehouse design.
• Experience with ETL/ELT tools such as Informatica, DataStage, Talend, dbt or similar, and with orchestration and pipeline design.
• Programming experience in Python, Java or Scala.
• Working knowledge of at least one major cloud provider (AWS, Azure or Google Cloud).
• Clear communication with technical teams and business stakeholders, including workshops and recommendations.
• Ability to travel to customer sites within Australia and New Zealand as needed.

Responsibilities

• Lead the technical design of migrations from legacy platforms to Snowflake, covering data, code, pipelines and security.
• Run migration assessments, analyse legacy code and workloads, and produce migration plans and target architectures.
• Use SnowConvert and migration accelerators to automate SQL and ETL conversion, guiding manual work.
• Modernise data pipelines with Snowpark, Snowpipe, Streams and Tasks, focusing on performance and governance.
• Plan and run data validation, performance testing and cutover with production readiness.
• Act as trusted technical advisor to customer architects and SI partners, solving on-site and remote issues.
• Support sales by scoping migration work, reviewing code assessments and shaping Statements of Work.
• Turn field lessons into reusable migration patterns and share feedback with Product/Engineering.
