Job summary

CIO Group, supporting the Department of Industry, Science and Resources (DISR) in Canberra and VIC, seeks experienced Cloud Engineers/Architects to deliver enterprise cloud architectures on MS Azure and M365. You will shape solution designs, mentor engineers, and drive delivery across cross-functional teams.

Remote working arrangements may be considered case-by-case, with a 12-month contract and potential extensions. Minimum 5 years of cloud experience required.

Qualifications

• Cloud experience with Azure-based solutions including App Services, Functions, Logic Apps, SQL, Service Bus, API Management.
• Experience using Azure DevOps for CI/CD and IaC deployments.
• Knowledge of Microsoft Entra ID, Key Vault, Monitor and Application Insights.
• Experience integrating cloud systems with Microsoft Dynamics 365 CRM.
• Understanding of Azure networking, security and RBAC.

Responsibilities

Length of contract: 12 months

Contract extensions: 2x 12 months

Rates: $120 - $150 per hour (inc. super)

The CIO Group provides a range of enabling services and operations delivery to the department and to Australian businesses and are seeking experienced and motivated Cloud Engineers and/or Architects with a minimum of 5 years' experience to assist with the delivery of various ICT Projects across the CIO Group.

Cloud Engineers and/or Architects will be required to:

• Develop enterprise level cloud platform architectures for MS Azure and M365;
• Develop high level solution architectures for cloud-based systems;
• Develop detailed architecture guidance for cloud engineers;
• Provide impact analysis of user/stakeholder requirements;
• Ensure that the enterprise and system solutions maintain adherence to whole-of-government standards;
• Provide technical guidance and input into the design and build of cloud-based systems;
• Liaise with a cross-functional teams including business owners, scrum masters, business analysts, developers, enterprise architects & testers to produce solutions in accordance with stakeholder requirements and project objectives;
• Liaise with the department’s Service Experience team to ensure architectural decisions incorporate user experience considerations
• Liaise with ICT Engagement and Enterprise Architecture to ensure alignment to target architectures and technology.
• Provide expertise and assistance in platform automation – testing, continuous integration and deployment
• Promote key enterprise architecture principles as applicable to cloud platforms – re-use before buy/build, configure over customise, open data/access over siloed functionality
• Promote and provide assistance to ensure solutions align with the DTA’s Digital Service Standard
• Be strategic, a leader and influencer.
• Undertake additional duties as required.

Essential criteria

1. Cloud experience: Demonstrated experience in cloud-based solution implementation with technologies including:
   • Azure App Services, Azure Functions, Azure Logic Apps, Azure SQL, Azure Service Bus and Azure API Management
   • Azure DevOps for code development, management, repositories, Infrastructure as Code and CI/CD deployments
   • Microsoft Entra ID, Azure Key Vault, Azure Monitor and Application Insights
   • Integrating cloud-based systems with third-party systems, including Microsoft Dynamics 365 CRM
   • Azure networking, security and identity management capabilities including Virtual Networks, Private Endpoints and Role Based Access Control
2. Cultural fit:

   • Ability to work with technical and non-technical staff at all levels.
   • Ability to collaborate and mentor team members to promote team harmony
3. Agile:
   • Experience working with Agile Multi-disciplinary teams to deliver secure, user friendly and reliable solutions that meet stakeholder, citizen, and business expectations.
   • Ability to pragmatically change direction and scope as new information is discovered and challenges or opportunities present themselves
4. Technical Skills: Demonstrated experience 5yrs+ implementing and managing cloud systems and technologies. The Cloud Architect/Engineer will:
   • Liaise with cross-functional teams to develop and manage enterprise and application-level architectures for MS-Azure.
   • Provide impact analysis and technical guidance in design and development of project work aligned with WoG Standards

Desirable criteria

1. Demonstrated track record of technical leadership across project and operational tasks
2. Demonstrated experience and understanding of cloud-based technologies and architectures
3. Demonstrated experience in application and integration, or infrastructure platform architecture.
4. Minimum 3 years’ experience designing and documenting architectures for large, complex enterprise systems.
5. Experience with AWS and/or GCP is desirable but not essential.
