Job summary

A reputable healthcare institution in Australia is seeking a Senior Clinical Fellow in General Medicine to rotate through GIM wards and participate in the SpR on-call rota. Qualifications

  • A minimum of 2 years General Medicine Experience at CMT/IMT level.
  • Primary Medical Qualification required.

  • Participate in the future development of the Medical Services for the Trust.
  • Provide strong leadership for the junior medical staff.
  • Support and provide teaching and training of junior medical staff.

Skills

Able to perform a comprehensive geriatric assessment
Able to work well in MDT
Able to perform independently the required practical procedures: LP, pleural tap/drain, ascitic tap/drain
Valid ALS
Publications in Recognised Medicine Journals
Research Projects relating to specialty

Job description

This post is for oneSenior Clinical Fellow in General Medicine based at Northampton General Hospital.

The appointees will rotate around GIM wards and may also take part in the SpR on call rota for acute medicine.

This post is suitable for doctors wishing to pursue a career in GIM or who wish to gain further experience of the speciality either before starting Higher Specialist Training.

Northampton General has an excellent reputation for training doctors and a long tradition of those doctors taking up Consultant posts with us. We currently have six senior doctors completing their CESR with us within Medicine.

Main duties of the job
  • To participate in the future development of the Medical Services for the Trust.
  • To provide strong leadership for the junior medical staff
  • To support and provide teaching and training of junior medical staff, medical and physician associate students, post graduate training and nurse training on the unit
  • To ensure good practice by regular audit and review of incidents with clinical team and take forward the lessons learnt
  • To link in with the directorate clinical governance meetings and contribute to lessons learnt from incidents and complaints
